Packaging Process:

Through an extensive process of trial and error, we have developed a packaging system that we are proud of! Effective packaging is critical to ensure that each piece arrives in perfect condition, reflecting the same level of care and craftsmanship we put into creating it. Due to the wide range of our product sizes, most packaging requires extensive customization, including:

  • Carton modification to ensure precise product fitment.
  • Drop and impact reinforcement through the implementation of a wooden structural skeleton.
  • Innovative corner protection devised from a household recreational product (iykyk).
  • Custom shop-made wooden crates for our largest pieces. Our crates are designed for protection and durability, but add an additional layer of exquisite craftsmanship that consistently earns compliments. Note: our crates require a #2 phillips screwdriver for disassembly.

From creation to delivery, we ensure every detail reflects the care and precision that define our work.

Our Craftsmanship Process

How We Do It:

Everything we sell is handmade by Jason and Kenan in our small Vermont woodshop, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern techniques. Creating in Vermont allows us to draw inspiration from the state’s natural beauty and strong artisanal heritage, ensuring every piece reflects the character and quality associated with this unique region. Most of our pieces are made-to-order, while a handful of our popular designs are kept in minimal inventory. All of our pieces are fully customizable to suit your needs and preferences.

The General Process for Our Artwork:

  1. Material Selection: We start with sheet goods, primarily oak plywood, chosen for its strength, durability, and the aesthetic appeal of its natural grain. Occasionally, we use other species of plywood or MDF to accommodate specific design needs or finishes.
  2. Precision Cutting: Our process involves a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques to ensure that every piece is cut with accuracy while maintaining an artisanal level of quality. Our shop features traditional equipment alongside a precision CNC laser machine.
  3. Finishing: Pieces are meticulously finished with stains and/or paints tailored to the design. These finishes enhance the wood grain and contribute to the distinct aesthetic of our work.
  4. Pattern Assembly and Lamination: The design is arranged and laminated onto an MDF backing board using wood glue. We use a vacuum press to ensure precise alignment and long-lasting durability.
  5. Framing: Our framed pieces are completed with a handmade frame. All hardwood frame profiles are milled in-house from locally sourced lumber. Most of our hardwood frames are hand-finished with a grain-enhancing wax oil finish that brings out the natural beauty of the wood.
  6. Finishing Touches: Framed pieces are completed with acid-free backing paper and fitted with durable hanging hardware. Every wall-hung piece is shipped ready to hang, complete with rubber bumpers to protect your walls.

Our process reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and quality, ensuring that every piece we create is both beautiful and built to last.
